The pain that headache and migraine sufferers endure can impact every aspect of their lives. Acupuncture can offer powerful relief without the side effects that prescription and over-the-counter drugs can cause. Acupuncture has been used to relieve Headaches and Migraines, as well as their underlying causes, for thousands of years and is a widely accepted form of treatment for headaches in our society.
Diagnosis with Traditional Chinese Medicine Traditional Chinese Medicine does not recognize migraines and recurring headaches as one particular syndrome. Instead, it aims to treat the specific symptoms that are unique to each individual. Therefore, your diagnosis and treatment will depend on a number of variables: Is the headache behind your eyes and temples, or is it located more on the top of your head? When do your headaches occur (i.e. night, morning, after eating)? Do you find that a cold compress or a dark room can alleviate some of the pain? Do you describe the pain as dull and throbbing, or sharp and piercing? Studies on Acupuncture and Headaches Since the early seventies, studies around the globe have suggested that acupuncture is an effective treatment for migraines and headaches. Recent studies show extremely positive results: In a case study, published in the June 2003 Issue of Medical Acupuncture, doctors found that acupuncture resulted in the resolution or reduction in the frequency and severity of cluster headaches, and a decrease or discontinuation of medications. It was concluded that Acupuncture can be used to provide sustained relief from cluster headaches and to stimulate adrenal cortisol to aid in discontinuing corticosteroids. A clinical observation, published in a 2002 edition of the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, of 50 patient presenting with various types of headaches were treated with scalp acupuncture. The results of this study showed that 98% of patients treated with scalp acupuncture experienced no headaches or only occasional, mild headaches in the six months following care. In a study published in the November 1999 issue of Cephalalgia, scientists evaluated the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of migraines and recurrent headaches by systematically reviewing 22 randomized controlled trials. A total of 1,042 patients were examined. It was found that headache and migraine sufferers experienced significantly more relief from acupuncture than patients who were administered 'sham' acupuncture. Personal Testament from Your Practitioner: As a migraine sufferer for over 10 years I had found little relief from traditional means of treating migraines. At first some of the medications would help but I would end up with another headache just a few days later, and had to endure the side effects from the medication over and over again. I built up a tolerance to the medications after a short time and eventually they stopped helping me at all. I would take a pill and think ok 2 hours and this will go away...nope 2 hours later and I'm still right where I was before. This left me with many nights of no sleep and a throbbing pain that stayed with me constantly. The pain that comes with a migraine makes moving almost impossible. Forget about driving, or reading, or successfully completing any type of activity. When I first began studying acupuncture is when I began treatment for my migraines. I also started to keep track of when they occurred, the severity, and any triggers I could notice. With acupuncture I was able to keep myself off the medications and my migraines starting getting further and further apart. Now I keep myself on a "tune-up" maintenance treatment every couple of months to prevent future migraines from happening. Every once in awhile I may start to feel the on-set of one coming but I use acupressure during those times and can prevent the full blown migraine from ever occurring. I also teach these techniques to patients so they are able to do this if they aren't at treatment when that feeling starts to come along. I've treated many cases of migraines and headaches and I can fully sympathize with my patients and how they are feeling. If you suffer from frequent migraines you've probably gotten to that point where you think "This is just how it is" and you've learned to live with them. Well you don't have to do that, you can improve your quality of life and get rid of that throbbing annoying pain that keeps you from doing many things you want to.

In a more medically oriented trial, patients were exposed to Lavender essential oil vapor immediately after surgery. Impressively, it was found that, among patients exposed to the aroma, fewer required pain relieving drugs at all, and those that did required less of them.Hopefully this has been a convincing review of the benefits of Lavender essential oil! Particularly in this day and age, with the incredible amount of stress many people are exposed to on a daily basis, this readily available, inexpensive (and great smelling) essential oil may be a worthwhile addition to your lifestyle, and perhaps to your home and work environment as well.

Wrinkles, dents and dimples in the chin, that occur when you shut your mouth or as you talk, can be quite disfiguring. They give the face a troubled, "messy" look. The wells are caused by muscle activity in the chin. If you pouts, so if you stick your lower lip, the pits and dents are visible and also creates a horizontal wrinkle on the chin.To know more visit amstelzijdekliniek.nl
